postpartum doula training

Our postpartum doula training equips you to provide comprehensive support to families and birthing individuals after childbirth. In this training, you'll receive a lifetime certification as a post-partum doula.

In this program, you’ll learn DTI’s core concepts, receive access to comprehensive postpartum training, and of course receive certification for life. Offered online, this training is flexible, affordable and geared toward building and cultivating community within your practice, as you learn at your own pace and train with seasoned educators and doulas.

Beyond becoming a doula, when you certify with DTI, you’re signing up for more than a couple of classes. You’re signing up for an education. You’re signing up to learn about sustaining a business in the birth world. You’re joining a community of professionals, invested in exploring intersections of birth work, human rights, creativity, technology and empathy.

Now that you’re a DTI member, you are a part of our professional membership and learning community. Once you take your first training with DTI, you will gain access to your ongoing education, discount codes, access to a private Facebook group and much more.

If you already work as a doula and have a prerequisite, you can start your program any time. No need to wait for a launch date!

Why is DTI's certification lifetime?

  • Rigorous and current. Directly following DTI trainings, our certification program is rigorous, up-to-date and supported by our educator team on a weekly basis. After completion of certification requirements, DTI doulas are experienced, well-educated and well-prepared to serve all pregnant and birthing families through the lens of cultural humility and reproductive justice.
  • Practical. Life happens! If you need to step away from doula work to have a baby of your own, or for any other reason, your certification will not lapse. You are able to stay plugged in and current in the field through our DTI annual membership.
  • Autonomous. We strongly believe in autonomy for all persons, including doulas. The doula role is non-clinical and should never be regulated or licensed. We have complete confidence in the training and support our doulas have access to in order to be effective change-makers in today's birth climate.
  • Is DTI's membership required?

    • The DTI membership is required prior to registering for one of our trainings and for the first year following. After that, $157 will auto-renew. The membership portal is updated with new material on an annual basis. We are confident you will find amazing value in the resources, allowing you to stay current in the field without ever having to re-certify. (See above.) If you are no longer pursuing doula work or do not wish to renew, simply contact our office to cancel the subscription.
    • All current DTI members, whether or not certification was completed, will be able to access our full-spectrum doula curriculum update by fall of 2019. In addition, if you completed birth + postpartum certification with DTI, you are eligible to complete a brief certification process to become certified as a full-spectrum doula.
    • For doulas who train in birth + postpartum starting in September 2019, this is built in automatically to your curriculum and certification process.
