Teacher Training Program

Teach licensed DTI Full Spectrum, Birth and Postpartum stand-alone doula courses

About

For the first time in DTI’s history, we are offering a doula educator licensing program. This means that you have the opportunity to license our curriculum and become a DTI doula educator upon certification within the program.

Our goal at DTI has always been to offer a new model of doula training that was more inclusive and more accessible to all—and at this point in our growth, opening our curriculum up to the community feels imperative to DTI’s sustainability and mission. Through the program, future-forward doulas, like-minded organizations and birth world thought leaders will have the ability to teach licensed DTI Full Spectrum and Birth and Postpartum stand-alone doula courses.

The organization I work for would like to teach DTI trainings. Is it possible for an organization to license the DTI Full Spectrum training?

Yes, it is. If your organization has more than 7 people that want to teach the DTI training reach out to us by email at hello@wearedti.com and we can set up a training specifically for your organization.

Once I become a DTI Educator and approved to license the program, can I teach both In-Person and Online DTI Trainings?

DTI Educators who go on to license the DTI Full Spectrum curriculum are able to teach in-person trainings only. DTI Educators will, however, be eligible for contract work through DTI when work becomes available. Currently, only Founding Educators working with DTI teach DTI’s Online Trainings.

Once I teach the DTI in-person 4-day Full Spectrum training am I responsible to teach the rest of the course online while the doulas are completing the 1-year program virtually?

No, the founding educators will pick up online mentoring and leading the monthly calls for students after the in person training is finished.

Will I be able to stay in touch and interact with the doulas I train?

Yes, you will be a part of the DTI Member and DTI Certifying Doula groups where students continue learning. You may also be a part of location-based groups doulas use to stay in touch with each other on an ongoing basis.

Once the students are ready to certify what happens?

DTI will handle all certification requests and review them through our HQ in Austin.

6-month online course
Group mentorship
2 one-on-one mentor calls with Founding DTI Educators
3-day in-person workshop in Austin, TX at DTI HQ (travel and accommodations not included)

DTI Curriculum

DTI Digital Workbook to use while teaching and presenting the DTI Materials
DTI marketing materials

Once I complete the DTI Educator training how do I start to train other doulas?

Once you successfully complete the DTI Educator training, in 2021 you will have the ability to license the DTI program and curriculum to host DTI Full Spectrum trainings, DTI Birth Doula trainings and DTI Postpartum Doula trainings in your preferred areas.
Licensing the program means that you have the ability to teach DTI In-Person trainings using the DTI curriculum and materials. A licensing fee per student is required per the licensing agreement. All students that register for your trainings must also be DTI Members.
You organize and create space for the in person trainings on the ground. While DTI manages membership, pre-requisite courses so that your students show up ready to learn, teaching materials, support with marketing, the entire online component for the 12-month certification program, mentorship and online support with founding educators and manages the certification process.

Can I travel and host trainings in other areas?

Yes, you can travel and host trainings in other areas. All training dates and locations will be submitted to DTI before Jan 1 of each New Year. DTI will work with you ahead of time to be sure that trainings are scheduled to ensure as much success as possible.

After I complete the DTI Educator training will I need to re-train with DTI as an Educator or is it everlasting?

You will need to re-apply to continue to license the DTI curriculum and hold DTI trainings every three years.

What information will be used to accept or deny approval every three years?

DTI will schedule one on one calls with educators who want to continue, review student feedback from trainings, and discuss grievances (if any) that have been submitted.

Why would I need to re-apply to continue to license the program?

To ensure that all of the DTI Educators are teaching the updated curriculum and have access to all new materials, each educator will be asked to apply to continue licensing the course and access updates through the DTI platform for continued learning. There will be online and in-person options for these updates to make them as accessible as possible. The first application to continue licensing the DTI program for this cohort would be in 2024.

How much will the updates cost every three years?

Online re-application and updates will be available every three years for $325.

Why does DTI charge a licensing fee per student?

The DTI curriculum and materials have been designed and tested over the course of ten years. Extensive resources including time, expertise, art and legal assistance have been applied to program development. DTI’s intellectual property and the ability to use them in your work through licensing is one of the ways in which we generate income to support the organization.
