but I'm interested in signing up for a DTI course.
For the first time in DTI’s history, we are offering a doula educator licensing program. This means that you have the opportunity to license our curriculum and become a DTI doula educator upon certification within the program.
Our goal at DTI has always been to offer a new model of doula training that was more inclusive and more accessible to all—and at this point in our growth, opening our curriculum up to the community feels imperative to DTI’s sustainability and mission. Through the program, future-forward doulas, like-minded organizations and birth world thought leaders will have the ability to teach licensed DTI Full Spectrum and Birth and Postpartum stand-alone doula courses.
If you’re interested in becoming a licensed doula educator or training organization through DTI, you must fill out an application.
The application fee is $25 and your fee will go toward your tuition if you are accepted into the program. The link for the application will be in your email confirmation once you pay the $25 fee.
APPLICATIONS ARE CURRENTLY CLOSED. JOIN OUR WAITLIST HERE.

Once you successfully complete the DTI Educator training, in 2021 you will have the ability to license the DTI program and curriculum to host DTI Full Spectrum trainings, DTI Birth Doula trainings and DTI Postpartum Doula trainings in your preferred areas.
Licensing the program means that you have the ability to teach DTI In-Person trainings using the DTI curriculum and materials. A licensing fee per student is required per the licensing agreement. All students that register for your trainings must also be DTI Members.
You organize and create space for the in person trainings on the ground. While DTI manages membership, pre-requisite courses so that your students show up ready to learn, teaching materials, support with marketing, the entire online component for the 12-month certification program, mentorship and online support with founding educators and manages the certification process.
Yes, you can travel and host trainings in other areas. All training dates and locations will be submitted to DTI before Jan 1 of each New Year. DTI will work with you ahead of time to be sure that trainings are scheduled to ensure as much success as possible.
You will need to re-apply to continue to license the DTI curriculum and hold DTI trainings every three years.
DTI will schedule one on one calls with educators who want to continue, review student feedback from trainings, and discuss grievances (if any) that have been submitted.
To ensure that all of the DTI Educators are teaching the updated curriculum and have access to all new materials, each educator will be asked to apply to continue licensing the course and access updates through the DTI platform for continued learning. There will be online and in-person options for these updates to make them as accessible as possible. The first application to continue licensing the DTI program for this cohort would be in 2024.
Online re-application and updates will be available every three years for $325.
The DTI curriculum and materials have been designed and tested over the course of ten years. Extensive resources including time, expertise, art and legal assistance have been applied to program development. DTI’s intellectual property and the ability to use them in your work through licensing is one of the ways in which we generate income to support the organization.
